It's open-ended, but thankfully it doesn't have a cliffhanger! I liked it enough to want to read the sequel when/if it comes out. And predictability about the plot aside, it was overall very entertaining. They had this kind of hate-love-hate relationship that extended throughout most of the story, and I really enjoyed it. However, I loved the dynamic between Crystal and Alveya. So there was a lot of "what am I? What are you? What's happening?". And it kind of got on my nerves that even 80% into the book no one was telling her anything about anything, her questions always ignored. oh, but I think I'm average looking" attitude. Some of what happened made me roll my eyes, to be honest, and Crystal kind of annoyed me in the beginning with her "I'm blond, have crystal-blue eyes, a great body, and I'm considered one of the prettiest girls in school, I'm used to girls getting jealous of me. So for most of the book we follow 18-year-old Crystal wanting/trying to find out just what's going on, what's behind her mother's brutal murder, and what's the deal with this odd and intriguing classmate named Alveya, who for some reason seems to despise Crystal. As readers, we already know there are supernatural creatures, in the blurb there's even a mention of vampires. well, she doesn't know, but she starts to suspect people around her aren't just humans. This one is of course an Urban Fantasy, in which the main character is. I loooove books with supernatural creatures. But following Amazon's rating system, 4 stars 'I like it', is more accurate)
